Andhra Pradesh government has increased the pension amount of pensioners before the new year. In the Andhra Pradesh cabinet meeting on Tuesday, a proposal to increase the pension amount by 10 percent has been approved. This decision will benefit about 65 lakh pensioners of the state.
In fact, in the state cabinet meeting chaired by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan on Tuesday, approval has been given to increase the existing social pension from Rs 2,500 to Rs 2,750 per month. The increased pension will be given from January 1, 2023. The special thing is that this decision has been taken at a time when demands are being made by government employees in different states across the country to restore the old pension scheme (OPS).
65 lakh pensioners will be benefited
According to the official release issued by the government, this increase will lead to an additional burden of Rs 130.44 crore every month. At present there are 62 lakh pensioners in the state and 2.43 lakh will be added this month. In this way, about 65 lakh pensioners of the state will get its benefit.
