Free distribution of 5 kg wheat-rice per unit
In the year 2020, at the time of the first wave of Corona, free ration distribution of 5 kg wheat-rice per unit was started for the ration card holders under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Anna Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY) in addition to the regular ration by the Central Government. After this, the ration distributed regularly by the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh was also made free.
Ration distribution running late by two months
There were instructions for distribution of free ration till June 2020 from the Yogi government of UP. According to this, from July, ration card holders will have to pay in lieu of regular ration distribution. Under this, wheat will have to be paid at the rate of Rs 2 per kg and for rice at the rate of Rs 3 per kg. But at present the ration distribution schedule is running late by two months. In such a situation, free ration is being available from June till August.
Free ration will be available from the center till September
In such a situation, ration card holders will have to pay money in lieu of ration from September. Sources said that money has also been deposited from the kotedars for lifting food grains from the supply department. Presently, distribution of 5 kg rice per unit will continue under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Anna Kalyan Yojana. Recently, the central government had talked about extending this scheme by three months to distribute free ration till September. According to this, ration card holders will not get the benefit of this scheme from October.
