BSNL 5G Services: BSNL users will get 5G services from this month, check details

BSNL 5G Services: 5G rollout can be started by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) this year. The company is continuously expanding 4G and the benefit of the latest tech will be available from June.

BSNL 5G Services: Government telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is preparing to upgrade its 4G network to 5G from June this year. The company plans to launch about one lakh 4G sites by June, out of which 89,000 sites have already been installed. The special thing is that BSNL has used completely indigenous technology for its 4G network.

Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that the process of upgrading BSNL’s 4G network to 5G will start from June. India has joined the five countries that have developed their own 4G technology. The government is now working towards expanding this expertise to 5G.

Let us tell you, recently the central government approved a funding of Rs 6,000 crore for the expansion of BSNL’s 4G network. A part of this amount will also be used to strengthen the 4G network of BSNL’s subsidiary Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL). It is worth noting that BSNL controls MTNL, which provides telecom services in Delhi and Mumbai.

Foreign companies may also be allowed to bid in the telecom equipment contract worth about two billion dollars for BSNL’s 5G upgrade. If the government includes foreign companies for this upgrade, it will be a big change in its current stance. BSNL is currently facing tough competition from private telecom companies due to lack of 5G services.

The responsibility of setting up the company’s 4G network has been entrusted to a consortium led by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). At the same time, the government is considering a proposal to reserve half of BSNL’s 5G tender for Indian companies, while foreign companies may be allowed to bid for the rest.

In the third quarter of the current financial year, BSNL registered a profit of about Rs 262 crore, which is the company’s first quarterly profit after about 17 years. In recent months, BSNL has launched some new services, due to which the revenue from mobile services has increased by about 15 percent in the December quarter.
