This is how you can link your Aadhaar and PAN with LIC policy online

Like many other government policies, India’s biggest life insurer LIC is urging people to link their Aadhaar number along with PAN to your LIC policies. The company has mentioned the step by step process to do the same on their website. The insurer stated on its website ” As per a government directive, you have to link your Aadhaar and PAN to your LIC (Life Insurance Corporation) policies.”

However, like other services, LIC (Life Insurance Corporation) has not launched any SMS facility to enable linking of Aadhaar with its policies.

The insurer confirmed on the Twitter platform and wrote, “Our attention is drawn to some messages circulated in social media with our Emblem and logo asking policyholders to link their Aadhaar number by sending SMS to a designated number. No such message has been sent by LIC. Also, no facility to link Aadhaar number to policies is available through SMS in LIC. As and when LIC will enable linking of Aadhaar number with policies through SMS, our website will be duly updated with this option.”

From insurance policies to mobile SIM, the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) has made it compulsory to link the Aadhaar for carrying out a number of tasks.

As the Aadhaar registration requires an individual’s biometric information, hence the chances of duplication are almost impossible.

Aadhaar is a 12 digit unique-identity number issued to all Indian residents based on their biometric and demographic data.

As mentioned by the insurer, the last date to link your LIC policy to Aadhaar as mandated by the government is December 31.

Here are the steps to link Aadhaar to your LIC Policy:

Step 1: Keep your Aadhaar Card and PAN card handy along with the list of policies.

Step 2: Visit LIC’s website — licindia.in

Step 3: The link for linking Aadhaar and PAN with LIC policies is displayed on the homepage.

Step 4: Click on the link and you will be redirected to a new page.

Step 5: LIC gives you a to-do checklist. Read the instructions carefully before proceeding further.

Step 6: Mobile Number as registered with UIDAI is to be entered. OTP will be sent to the number provided.

Step 7: In case your mobile number is not updated in Aadhaar, kindly contact nearby LIC branch office for Aadhaar linking.

Step 8: After submitting the form, a message will be shown on the success of the registration for linkage.

Step 9: After verification with UIDAI, SMS / mail confirmation will be sent to you. The verification may take few days.

  4. Your OTP generators seems to be non-functional. No OTP # is generated after providing the inputs. Tried half-a-dozen times- unable to link my LIC policy. What do I do?

    • Go the manual way. So much for Digital India promotion. Government agencies themselves dont bother to go digital. Passport application is the only completed digital process.

  5. In case of Policies taken on Minors Name, who has Aadhhar but no PAN it is not possible to update online.
Should have the facility to link policy only with Aadhaar.

  6. Once Pan is linked with aadhar, there should be an automatical linking with all financial documents. They should not maje it simple just like mutual funds or lic.but for PPF and Securities They insist on going there personally. People have to take leave or even travel from changed place to. Previous place. Govt should think simple steps. Worst was TERI. Taking figure verification, which does not work with aged persons

    • The Japanese are known for simplifying the most complex task, we Indians are in experts in complicating simplest of the things.

  7. As per government directive, everything like from ration card ..to lic policy …licence.. property tax…so and so.., if by mistake or by oversight if a sim is lost, what would happen , everything come to a standstilll.. in order to avoid this critical position, the government should give proper directive to the network operators or agencies.. to arrange for the duplicate sim .. immediately with a request from them ie who lost their sim or phone. It is very much needed.

  9. First of all I would like to point out , the time given by LIC/Govt.of India (Fin.Min.) is too short for persons like me.The reason is am away abroad to US, to see my daughter before the communication said above. I don’t remember either the LIC pollicy No. or it appears anywhere in my email i.ds. How a person (am aged 70 yrs) to link the aadhar/pan docs to LIC insurance policies when I don’t remember them. Govt of India(Min.of Fin.) should consider such reasons and let them extend the dates atleast for six months so as to enable persons like me to link the docs as desired. Am a ardent payer of Incometax and abide all rules as a true citizen of India.
