New Delhi: There was a hearing in the Supreme Court regarding the payment system of the instant messaging app WhatsApp, where on Monday, all the allegations were rejected by Whatsapp, which claimed that the Whatsapp payment system was not safe and reliable. Also, it can be hacked from the Israeli spy software Pegasus. In this case, a petition has been filed in the court on behalf of Rajya Sabha MP Vinoy Viswas alleging that the data of Unified Payment Service (UPI) based service like Amazon Pay, Google Pay and other services can be hacked. Senior advocate Krishnan Venugopal presented the case of MP Vinoy Viswas in the court.

Controversy arose over WhatsApp payment

Counsel Kapil Sibal, who appeared in the court on behalf of Whatsapp, said that WhatsApp allegations are completely baseless. He said that no writ petitions have been filed in this case. It has been submitted verbally. During the same Supreme Court hearing, the issue of data localization was also raised in the court on behalf of Venugopal. On their behalf, the cow claimed that foreign companies can share the data of Indians, which is a violation of the National Payments Corporations of India (NPCI) guidelines and is very dangerous in terms of safety. Let me tell you that there was a lot of uproar last year on the issue of privacy. However, later WhatsApp payment has been launched in India by NPCI with some terms and conditions, which were not allowed for a long time due to data localization and privacy issues. In such a situation, WhatsApp Payment had to wait a long time to take entry in India.
