Cyber Crime: Cyber criminals are sending links to WhatsApp numbers and hacking accounts and withdrawing money through them.
These days the cases of cyber fraud have increased rapidly. A retired school teacher in Andhra Pradesh was duped of Rs 21 lakh just after he clicked on a WhatsApp link. Police said that the retired teacher had found a link on WhatsApp and after clicking on that link, his bank account was hacked and all the money was stolen from his account.
Giving information to the police, Varalakshmi, a resident of Redepanaidu Colony in Madanapalle town of Annamayya district, said that she was constantly getting a message that ‘money has been deducted from the account’. When he contacted the bank officials, it was found that his account had been hacked and Rs 21 lakh was withdrawn from his account. The retired teacher has complained to the cyber cell.
Referring to another incident, the police said that bank account hacking has become common for cyber crimes. Cyber criminals are sending links to WhatsApp numbers and hacking accounts and withdrawing money through them. Cybercriminals recently stole Rs 12 lakh from the account of Gyanprakash, a software employee from Madanapalle. Two town police registered a case on the incident on Friday.
On the other hand, the Chief Operating Officer of a gaming company in Panchkula, Haryana, had recently filed a complaint on the cybercrime helpline saying that an app user has cheated him of Rs 35 lakh. However, as soon as the transaction was detected, the complainant spoke to the user, who refused to pay the money and switched off his phone.
He said that after the fraud was discovered, a complaint was made on the cyber helpline 1930. The fraudulent amount has been recovered by freezing the transaction as a result of the victim providing immediate information in the ‘Golden Hours’ in 1930 .

All your information is stolen by clicking on WhatsApp links and sharing personal data, whose criminals gain access to your bank account and money disappears from the account in no time.
