There is great news for the state employees in Rajasthan. The Election Commission has approved increasing the dearness allowance of state employees and pensioners by 4 percent and giving bonus to 6 lakh employees on Diwali. Now DA will increase from 42 to 46 percent, which will benefit 8 lakh employees and 4.5 lakh pensioners. For a maximum salary of Rs 7,000, one can get a maximum bonus of Rs 6,774, equivalent to 30 days’ salary. The Finance Department is expected to issue orders for these on Tuesday.

After the announcement of giving 4 percent DA to the central employees, the state government had also sent a proposal to increase the DA of the employees to the Election Commission, which was given the green signal by the Commission on Monday. The state government received the information about the Election Commission’s approval to increase the bonus and DA on Monday night, now the file is waiting to be returned. Preparations are on to issue the order on Tuesday as soon as the file of the Finance Department is returned.

It is estimated that due to increase in bonus, there will be a financial burden of about Rs 500 crore on the state government and payment of bonus is also possible this week. Similarly, due to increase in dearness allowance and dearness relief, the financial burden on the state is estimated to be around Rs 1646 crore annually.
