Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Wednesday announced that the state has approved a 4 per cent hike in dearness allowance under the 7th Pay Commission, giving a big gift to government employees and pensioners. This increase will be applicable from the beginning of the financial year, 1 April 2023. The DA of state government employees and DR of pensioners has been increased from 38 percent to 42 percent.
16 lakh people will be benefited
Chief Minister MK Stalin has directed to implement the hike in DA from April 1 considering the ongoing requests of government employees and teachers. According to a formal statement, it will help 16 lakh state employees, teachers, retired and family pensioners. After this decision of the government, there will be an additional burden of Rs 2,367 crore every year. Earlier, the central government had also increased the dearness allowance of central employees from 38 per cent to 42 per cent. After which more than one crore people were benefited from it.

Earlier, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has also announced a 4 percent increase in dearness allowance under the 7th Pay Commission. DA has been increased from 38 percent to 42 percent. Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) hike for Uttar Pradesh government employees from January 1, 2023.
Bihar has also announced
In April this year, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar had also announced that the government would increase the Dearness Allowance (DA) of state employees and pensioners by 10 per cent. In March, the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led Assam government increased the dearness allowance of state government employees from 38 per cent to 42 per cent.
