Talk is on to make 45 percent

The PTI report said that the central government is in talks to increase the DA and Dearness Relief (DR) rate to 45 percent for more than one crore employees and pensioners. Let us tell you that the rate of DA / DR (DA / DR) for employees and pensioners is fixed every month on the basis of AICPI index issued by Labor Ministry’s wing Labor Bureau.

Government not considering decimal point

CPI-IW for June 2023 (CPI-IW) was released on July 31, 2023. Shiv Gopal Mishra, General Secretary of All India Railwaymen’s Federation, said that this time we are demanding a 4 percent increase in dearness allowance. But the increase in dearness allowance is a little more than 3 percentage points. The government is not considering increasing DA beyond the decimal point. Therefore, there is a possibility that DA will increase by 3 percent to 45 percent.

The rule will come into effect from July 1, 2023.

Mishra also said that the Department of Expenditure of the Finance Ministry will prepare a proposal for the hike in DA with its revenue implications. After this, he will put the proposal before the Union Cabinet for approval. The hike in DA/DR will be made effective from July 1, 2023, after the announcement. At present, there are more than one crore central employees and pensioners of the central government. He is getting DA/DR at the rate of 42% of Basic Pay/Pension.

The last DA increase was done on March 24, 2023 and was made effective from January 1, 2023. At that time the Central Government had increased the DA by 4% to 42%. Let us tell you that DA / DR is increased every six months by the government. In this way, dearness allowance is increased twice every year.
