Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has taken another step in the direction of providing convenience to the passengers. Now DMRC has upgraded its Baggage Scanning System (X-BIS System) with advanced features. The X-Ray Baggage Scanning System (X-BIS System) has been upgraded at the security check points of metro stations.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation CPRO Anuj Dayal said that taking a step in this direction, Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has started installing highly advanced and state-of-the-art baggage scanners at its stations in a phased manner. These newly installed baggage scanners will provide additional security to the passengers. Elderly and women passengers will have more convenience in lifting their heavy luggage and keeping it for scanning.
These Baggage Scanning System (X-BIS System) are equipped with the following additional features:-
1. Quick Clearance of Baggage
These scanners will now be able to handle 550 bags per hour, which was earlier able to handle 350 bags per hour. For this, the speed of the conveyor belt is 18 cm. increase from 30 cm per second. done per second. The objective is to reduce the heavy rush of passengers at security checkpoints, especially during peak periods.
2. Effective Monitoring
During scanning, the newly installed sizable monitors with high resolution images will enable quick and immediate assessment of dangerous objects like any explosives, weapons, etc. In addition, 35 mm during baggage inspection. Thick steel plates can also be assessed by X-ray.
3. Tilt of Input/Output Conveyor
The modified X-BIS system will have a manually-adjustable and extendable Inclined Conveyor Belt System, which allows the conveyor belt to be tilted down while placing the baggage as well as when exiting it. This will be especially helpful for older passengers who will be able to conveniently store their luggage on the low-height conveyor.
4. Continuous monitoring by audio-video
The 360 degree rotating camera mounted just above the baggage scanner will be able to capture clear audio and video footage of the X-BIS system process which will be useful in case of any untoward incident like theft, any dispute between passengers and security personnel etc.
Other arrangements have also been made to assist the Baggage Operators (CISF staff) on duty at the scanning machines such as charging ports for wireless sets, handheld metal detectors, mobile phones, etc., provision of hangers for water bottles and movable for various uses.
