The facility of changing the metro line at four stations will facilitate the congested and densely populated people to reach the airport in less time. In this, passengers will get a chance to reach the destination in less time.

The role of Silver Line in the Phase-IV projects of Delhi’s Jeevan Rekha Metro is very important. Chhatarpur station is being constructed on this line of Metro Phase-4. An interchange station is under construction to connect South Delhi with the Airport Express. There will be a total of 15 stations on the corridor of about 23.62 km. These will have 4 interchange stations Aerocity, Chhatarpur, Saket G-Block and Tughlakabad.

Passengers of Yellow and Silver Line will get an opportunity to interchange at Chhatarpur Metro Station of Phase-4. The existing Chhatarpur station is elevated, while the Phase-4 station will be underground. Two nearby stations will also be connected through a sub-way. Interchange facility will be made available at existing Gate No-2 of the existing Chhatarpur Metro Station. The proposed station is about 18 meters below the existing ground level.

The platform will be at the bottom, followed by the concourse and then the roof at the top. Faridabad commuters will get metro interchange facility at Tughlakabad, while those going to the airport from Gurugram will be able to reach the airport directly by changing the metro line at Chhatarpur station.

Metro will be accessible in densely populated areas.

On this corridor, people living in densely populated areas of Mahipalpur, Vasant Kunj, Chhatarpur, IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University), Maidan Garhi, Nebsarai, Saket, Khanpur, Sangam Vihar and Tughlakabad Metro facility will also be available. With the completion of the Metro Corridor, commuters of Mahipalpur-Mehrauli Road, Mehrauli-Badarpur Road and IGNOU Road will get an opportunity.

After the completion of this corridor, people from South Delhi and densely populated areas along the Mehrauli-Badarpur Road will have direct access to the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Construction to be done by 2025

Currently, passengers have to interchange at New Delhi Metro station to travel on the Airport Express Line to reach IGI Airport Terminal. This may take a long time.

With the introduction of Metro service on the new line, Mahipalpur-Mehrauli Road, Mehrauli-Badarpur Road and commuters of Gurugram and Faridabad will also have a direct Metro option to reach IGI. The construction work of this corridor is underway and is expected to be completed by 2025.
