Dhanteras 2024: Dhanteras is a major Hindu festival celebrated on the Trayodashi Tithi (13th day) of Krishna Paksha in the Hindu calendar month of Kartik. It is also known as Dhantrayodashi. ‘Dhanteras’ is made up of two words, the first is ‘Dhan’ which means money, while ‘Teras’ means the 13th day of Krishna Paksha (lunar fortnight). This day is considered very auspicious for buying gold or new beginnings like starting a new business. According to the Gregorian calendar, Dhanteras usually falls in the month of October or November.
On this day, people worship Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Kubera and Lord Dhanvantri and seek their blessings for wealth, good health and prosperous future. This year Dhanteras will be celebrated on 29 October 2024 (Tuesday). Trayodashi Tithi will start at 10.31 am and will last till 1.15 pm the next day.
