Delhi Metro Chief Vikas Kumar said that its recommendations have been sent to the Central Government.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Chief Vikas Kumar said that DMRC has planned to start a ‘three car’ metro train service from Narela to Rithala under the sixth phase. News agency PTI quoted him as saying, “There is also a provision to change the three-coach system to a six-coach system in future. With this the platform can be expanded in future as the traffic increases.”
This plan was earlier for the 22 km long route
Earlier, DMRC had plans to run ‘Metro Light’ on a 22 km long extension route, which is a thin, tram-like train with track at road level and where the stations may also be smaller than usual and the usual ie. Can’t stand tall coaches. According to the new proposal submitted with the Center, now the DMRC has canceled the plan of Metro Light Corridor.
New recommendations sent to the central government
Talking to reporters for the first time after taking over as DMRC chief at Metro Bhawan, he said, earlier there was a plan to develop a metrolite network. Now recently new recommendations have been sent to the central government.
Presently DMRC is working on 65.2 km long routes of three major corridors with 45 stations, which include Janakpur West-RK Ashram Marg (28.92 km), Majlis Park-Maujpur (12.5 km) and Tughlakabad-Aerocity (23.62 km).

A total of 27 elevated stations are being built under Phase-4. A total of 45 new stations will be built after getting the approval of the Central Government for the other corridors. Delhi Metro currently operates a 391 km long network with 286 stations.
