According to UIDAI, no one can harm you just by knowing your Aadhaar number. It is like any other identity document like Passport, Voter ID, PAN Card, Ration Card, Driving License etc., which you are using for many years with the service provider.

Also as per the Aadhaar Act 2016, the Aadhaar card can be authenticated in physical or electronic form or offline verification. The verification is done through fingerprint, iris scan, OTP authentication and QR code etc.
