Domestic flights were resumed from last year after the easing of Kovid-19 restrictions. IndiGo increased the salary of pilots as soon as the company’s revenue improved due to the removal of operational hurdles.
Domestic airline IndiGo has increased the salaries of its pilots by 8 percent from April 1. IndiGo has increased the salaries of its pilots after the gradual return of operational services. Significantly, after the tourism sector was badly affected by the Kovid-19 epidemic, IndiGo had cut salaries of several categories of employees, including its pilots.
Expected growth again in November The
aviation industry has returned to power after the full resumption of domestic flight operations in October last year. The company says that if there is no problem in further flight operations, then again in November, the salary of pilots will be increased by 6.5 percent.
Ashim Mitra, Senior Vice President (Flight Operations) of the company has said, “We anticipate a positive revenue environment and do not expect to see any further disruption in operations. We are also planning to implement an additional 6.5 per cent revision in pay from November 1. He said that the new pay structure would be released in a few days.
To compensate for the reduction,
regular foreign and domestic flights were completely stopped since the spread of the corona virus. Although some selected flights continued under the supervision of the government, the aviation industry along with other sectors suffered heavy losses due to the pandemic.
Many people had to lose their jobs, while the salaries of many employees and officers were cut. Indigo was no exception to this. The company had cut the salary of its pilots by 40 percent in May 2020. This increment is the offset of the same deduction.
Relief from lifting of restrictions
However, now with the reduction in the cases of Kovid-19, after the lifting of the ban, the aviation sector has returned to its glory. Along with domestic flights, India has now started international flights as well. Other airlines including Indigo are betting big on international flights.
IndiGo plans to start flights on 150 international routes in the month of April. With the increase in the number of business or other business travelers, the number of domestic passengers has also reached 80-85% of the pre-Covid-19 level.
