The E-Shram portal was launched by the Ministry of Labor and Employment, Government of India on 26 August 2021 to create a database of workers in the unorganized sectors.
About 20 crore registrations have been done so far on the e-shram portal. Most of the registrations are in Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha and Jharkhand.
E-shram card will be given to all the registered workers to get the benefits. Workers of all classes can register themselves with the help of Aadhar number and bank details.
- Registered members will be eligible for various benefits by signing up for Shramik Yojana and carrying an e-shram card.
- The workers will benefit from the adoption of social security programs by the government.
- E-shram card will be issued to the workers who successfully register on the portal. The 12 digit UAN number will be on the card.
- The members of e-shram portal will no longer have to register for any other government social welfare programme.
What is UAN Number?
UAN is a 12-digit number that is uniquely assigned to each unorganized worker after registration on the portal. Once given it will be forever and will not change.
Documents required for registration on e-Shram Portal:
- aadhar number
- Aadhaar linked to an active mobile number
- bank account details
- Age should be between 16-59 years
Steps to register for e-Shram card online:
- Go to official website
- The link for registration will be on the side of the page
- Click on ‘Registration on e-Shram’
- Enter Aadhar linked mobile number and captcha
- Click on ‘Send OTP’
- Enter OTP, registration form for e-shram will open
- Enter personal, educational and bank details
- Now the registration is complete
