Coal Indian Arrears Update: There is good news for lakhs of coal workers in the country. After the benefit of increment, allowances and pay scale, now the outstanding arrears of 23 months arrears will be paid in September. In this regard orders have been issued by Coal India to all subsidiary companies. Under this, now all the employees will get the amount of outstanding arrears of 23 months in September. This amount can be from 3 lakh to 7 lakh.
Lakhs of employees will get benefits
According to media reports, an order has been issued for payment of arrears to the workers of Coal India. For this, Gautam Banerjee, General Manager (MP&IR) of Coal India Limited, has informed about this by writing a letter to the Chairman cum Managing Director (CMD) of all subsidiaries affiliated to Coal India including South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECA). This will benefit about three lakh workers working in Coal India. The arrears of 23 months will be a one-time payment. With this order, the workers will be paid Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 7 lakh as arrears.
Agreement applicable from July 2021
The order issued states that the arrears will be paid to the workers in September, 2023 along with the salary of August 2023, for which the approval of the competent authority has been received. The arrears of working, retired workers can be paid as soon as possible after completing all the formalities. The arrears can be paid after making all applicable deductions. After this order, the salary of coal workers will now increase on September 2023. Be informed that the 11th wage settlement of coal workers has come into effect from July 1, 2021. After this, the increased salary is being paid to the workers from July 2023.
The decision was taken in the meeting
In fact, in the JBCCI meeting last May, the union and the management signed the MoU for the 11th wage settlement and then the wage settlement was approved in the board meeting of Coal India on May 30. After this, it was sent to the Ministry of Coal for approval, after getting the final approval from here, it was implemented from the month of June and salary was given from July with the new pay scale and now orders for arrears have been issued. Along with the salary for August, arrears of 23 months will also be given. That is, along with the salary received in the month of September, the arrear amount of 23 months will also be given in lump sum. A provision of Rs 9,252.24 crore has been made for the arrears of 23 months effective from 1 July 2021 to 31 March 2023.
