Government Employees DA Hike 2023: Before the New Year, lakhs of government employees of Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab have got a big gift. On one hand, the Jammu administration has increased the dearness allowance of the employees by 4 percent, on the other hand,
the Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab has also announced a 4 percent increase, in such a situation, there will be a jump in the salary in the accounts of the employees from the new year. There is a possibility of revision in the rates of dearness allowance of central employees and pensioners before the Lok Sabha elections in the new year.
DA of Jammu employees increased by 4%, increased to 46%
Recently Jammu and Kashmir administration has increased the dearness allowance and dearness relief of government employees and pensioners by 4%. In this regard, orders have also been issued by Santosh D Vaidya, Principal Secretary, Finance Department.
Under this, government employees working under the recommendation of the Seventh Pay Commission will now get 46% DA instead of 42% from July 1, 2023. This DA will be given on the basic salary. Since the new rates of DA will be applicable from July, arrears of 5 months will also be paid. Pensioners will also get the benefit of this, the pension will increase from December.
5 months arrears will also be paid, salary will increase in January
- The order states that the term ‘Basic Pay’ in the revised pay structure means the pay drawn at the level prescribed in the pay matrix as per the seventh pay. Commission’s recommendations but it does not include any other type of pay like special pay etc.
- The arrears of additional installment of dearness allowance from July 2023 to November 2023 will be paid in cash in December 2023. Revised dearness allowance will become part of monthly pension/family pension from December 2023.

- The new installment of DA given will be included in the December salary. Payment of dearness allowance consisting of fractions of 50 paise and above will be rounded to the next higher rupee and fractions of less than 50 paise will be ignored.
DA of Punjab government employees also increased by 4 percent
Like Jammu and Kashmir, government employees of Punjab have also received gifts. Before the new year, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann has announced to increase the dearness allowance of ministerial staff by 4%.
At present the employees are getting 34 percent DA and now after the increase of 4 percent, dearness allowance has increased from 34 to 38 percent. This will benefit 3 lakh employees and 3.25 lakh pensioners. The new rates will be applicable from December 2023. Its orders will also be issued within a week.
In fact, recently Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann posted on social media platform We are going to give a New Year gift to the employees… DA has been increased by 4% which will be considered effective from December 1, 2023. Let us tell you that after the new increase, there will be an additional expenditure of Rs 1100 crore.
There are a total of 3.25 lakh employees and 3.50 lakh pensioners in the state. Here, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also assured the Punjab State Ministry Allied Services Union that the remaining eight percent DA will also be given soon, and other demands will also be considered.
