There is good news for the employees and their dependents. Actually the cabinet has taken a big decision on his family pension. They will be given the benefit of family pension. Along with this, the proposal of family pension has been approved on the lines of unmarried daughters.
Employees Family Pension: A major decision has been taken in the cabinet of the state government for the dependents of the employees. Thousands of dependents will get its lab. They will be given the facility of family pension. This has been approved in the state cabinet meeting on Monday. This pension will be given to them on the lines of unmarried women and daughters.
The Patnaik government of Odisha has also announced family pension for transgenders. This has been approved in the cabinet meeting. Transgender will also be given the benefit of family pension by the cabinet of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. In the meeting, SC Mohapatra said that the state government has also got approval on the estimated budget for the financial year 2020. It has also been decided to add transgenders as beneficiaries to the family pension. Orissa Civil Services Rules 1992 will also be amended in the state.
In case of death of parents who are government employees, transgender persons will be given the benefit of family pension at par with unmarried daughters. The decision was taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The transgender child of a government employee pensioner who dies after January 10, 2022, will be considered as an unmarried daughter and in the absence of any other elder unmarried daughter, she will be eligible for pension.
Court gave instructions
Earlier, the Supreme Court and Orissa High Court had also given instructions to pay pension to transgender persons treating them as daughters in many cases. However, earlier the word transgender was not used in the definition of child in the pension rules.
Contract recruitment process ended
Let us inform that before this many big decisions have been taken by the Naveen Patnaik government of Odisha. The contract recruitment process was completely abolished in the state before Diwali in October 2022, whereas now all the recruitments in Odisha are done regularly. Apart from this, it was also decided to make 57000 temporary employees permanent. Now the dependents of government employees, transgender children will also be given the benefit of family pension.
Court decision
Earlier in May last year, the High Court had directed the state to pay family pension to a transgender after the death of the pensioner’s mother. On which transgender and social activist Meera Parida welcomed the government’s decision and said that it is a very important step. “Many transgenders were suffering due to lack of rules for compensation.
