There is good news for the employees. They will get the benefit of paid leave. Orders have been issued for this. As per the order issued by DoPT, all the offices have been instructed to take appropriate action.

Employees Holiday, Employees Holiday Benefit: There is good news for the employees. They will be given the benefit of leave. Orders have been issued for this. However, along with getting leave, they will also be paid the salary for the day of leave.

Instructions to keep schools and colleges closed including government offices
Lakhs of employees are to get its benefits. By-elections are being organized in seven assembly constituencies as per the order issued by the DoPT. Due to which instructions have been given to keep schools and colleges including government offices closed in these areas on 5th September. Bye-elections will be held in the assembly constituencies along with Jharkhand, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Tripura and West Bengal on 5 September.

Employees eligible for paid leave

Voting will be held in Dumri in Jharkhand, Puthupal in Kerala, Ghosi in Uttar Pradesh, Bageshwar in Uttarakhand, Boxnagar in Tripura, Dhanpur in Tripura and Dhupguri in Bengal. Under Section 135B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, employees are entitled to leave with pay for voting in a general bye-election.

Instructions to take necessary action

Regarding the closure of government offices in connection with elections and giving paid leave to the employees, guidelines have been given by the department under the rule of the office memorandum dated October 10, 2001. All the departments have been instructed to take necessary action in this matter.

In such a situation, schools, colleges and other educational institutions including Dumri in Jharkhand including Puthu Pal, Ghosi in Uttar Pradesh, Bageshwar in Uttarakhand, Dhanpur in Tripura including Boxnagar in Tripura and government offices in Dhuppuri in West Bengal will remain closed. Along with this, the employees will get the benefit of paid leave.
