Employees retirement age and salary Hike: There is good news for thousands of employees of Chandigarh Administration. After the approval of Chandigarh Administrator Banwarilal Purohit, the UT Administration has issued a notification for the implementation of Central Service Rules in Chandigarh.
This will lead to huge benefits in arrears, allowances and salary. The same now the employees of Chandigarh will not get the pay scale of Punjab, but of the central government. 24 thousand employees will get its benefit. The same retirement age will increase from 58 years to 60 years. The new rules will come into effect from 1 April 2023.
Increase in retirement age
After the issue of this notification, the retirement age (Central Government Employees Retirement Age) will now be 60 years. The same teachers will get traveling allowance, up to about Rs 4000 per month, along with pay-scale and DA center employees. Apart from this, schools will now have the post of deputy principal, in which appointment will be done on the basis of seniority.
Women employees will be given education allowance for parents of two children up to class-12 with 2 years leave for child care. With the implementation of Central Service Rules, the pay scales of the employees will be in line with the rules of the Central Government. The conditions of service of persons appointed to the respective services and posts in the Central Civil Services of the President shall be the same and shall be governed by the same rules and orders.
More than 2400 employees will get benefit
According to the administration, the new rules have been named as the Union Territory of Chandigarh Employees (Revised Pay) Rules 2023. The Center had issued a notification in this regard on 29 March 2022. Therefore, the new rules will be applicable from April 1, 2022 and the employees will also get arrears.
The salaries of all the employees were fixed according to the classes on the rules. At present, Chandigarh has a total of 24858 employees working in administration, various boards, corporations and others, of which 971 employees are on deputation under various categories, 602 employees are from Punjab, 323 from Haryana and 46 from other states, union territories and home ministry.
These employees will not get benefits
- These rules shall not apply to members of All India Services working in the affairs of the Union Territory of Chandigarh, employees of the High Court of Punjab and Haryana, persons not in full time employment of UT Chandigarh, persons paid from contingencies.
- Electrical Wing of Engineering Department whose pay scale is presently governed by the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited Regulations, 2021. It was informed that notification in respect of Electrical Wing of Engineering Department, Chandigarh would be issued separately.
- These rules will also not apply to the employees on deputation in Chandigarh Administration, employees re-appointed in government service after retirement and employees working on contract.
Union Home Minister had announced
Last year, Home Minister Amit Shah had announced the implementation of Central Service Rules on UT administration employees during his visit to Chandigarh. He had said that with the change of these rules, the retirement age of the employees would be 58 to 60 years and the retirement age of the personnel associated with education would be 65 years.
The employees will also be entitled for Children Education Allowance. Like the employees of the same center, women employees of Chandigarh will be able to get two years leave for child care.
