Central Employees: Union Minister Jitendra Singh said on Wednesday that there is no proposal under consideration to change the retirement age of central government employees. In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Singh said that 122 government officials have been compulsorily retired in the last three years under various provisions of service rules.

He said that as per the updated information/data available on the Probity Portal (as on 30.06.2023) provided by various Ministries/Departments/Cadre Controlling Authorities (CCAs), the provisions of Fundamental Rules (FR)-56(J)/similar provisions A total of 122 officers have been booked during the last three years (2020-2023) including the current year.

Singh said, “There is no proposal under consideration to change the retirement age of central government employees.” He also said that the purpose of the review process under FR 56(J)/similar provisions is to bring in efficiency and strengthen the administrative machinery.

The Minister said, “Continued efforts to strengthen government administration and to lay greater emphasis on digitization, increased use of e-office, simplification of rules, periodic cadre restructuring and abolition of redundant laws to improve overall efficiency in governance.” Still working.”

At present, central government employees retire from service after the age of 60 years.
