There is a demand of the employees that their retirement age should be increased from 58 years to 60 years.
A joint call by the Management Federation Principals Association and the Punjab and Chandigarh College Teacher’s Union was called to protest in the colleges of the region on Friday. The college employees are demanding that their retirement age be increased from 58 years to 60 years.

The teacher workers have become furious over the poor policies of the government on higher education. In this matter Principal Navjot Kaur says that the bad policies of the government are forcing us to think something else. If the decision is not withdrawn, the government will have to face serious consequences.

It may be mentioned that the retirement age of teachers of colleges aided by the AAP government in Punjab has been reduced from 60 years to 58 years. Due to which the teachers and employees are upset and are continuously opposing the decision of the government. Similarly, on Friday from 11:00 am to 1:00 am there was a dharna demonstration.

Earlier, on 28 September 2022, a notification was issued for teachers of all universities and colleges regarding the Seventh Pay Commission of UGC. In this, the retirement age of non-government aided teachers has been reduced from 60 years to 58 years by the government. On the other hand, there is a demand of the employees that their retirement age should be raised to 60 years.
