The Lieutenant Governor in his announcement had said that the retirement age of the employees is to be increased from 62 to 65 years. The age limit will be increased by 3 years.
Demand immediate withdrawal of the bill
However, opposition is now being seen on this announcement made by the Lieutenant Governor. Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad has expressed displeasure over the alleged incident of increasing the retirement age in university numbers. There is a demand for the immediate withdrawal of the controversial Jammu and Kashmir Public University Bill.
In this case, the National Secretary says that Jammu and Kashmir Public Universities in 2022 should be withdrawn immediately. The announcement made by the LG government to increase the service period of university professors from 62 to 65 years is completely unacceptable.
Decision to increase the retirement age
It has been said by the Chief Secretary that the decision to increase the retirement age has been taken to dilute the issue of Public University Bill and to divert the attention of professors and other employees of public universities of Jammu and Kashmir by the students.
Opposition to raising the retirement age
That is a very unfortunate decision. If this happens, the LG government has decided to increase the retirement age of people in service because of giving jobs to lakhs of educated youth unemployed. There will be opposition to this move.
Retirement age will be increased for 3 years
In fact, in a program by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, it was announced to make the retirement age of the employees. However, no such order has been issued so far. University professors demand that the retirement age be increased. Keeping this in view and estimating the shortage of teachers in the university, this decision has been taken. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha had said that the shortage of teachers would be removed. With which the retirement age of teachers will be increased for 3 years, it will be increased from 62 to 65.
However, in this case, a section of teachers believes that if the retirement age increases, then the younger generation will suffer the most, the shortage of teachers should be filled through the fast track recruitment process. On the other hand, if this process is included, then the state employees will also demand to increase the retirement age from 60 to 62 years.
