Calculation is done on basic salary
The calculation of dearness allowance is always done on the basic salary. If the basic salary of an employee is Rs 20,000, then DA will be calculated on this only. If there is a 4% increase in DA, then his salary will increase by about Rs 800 per month.

- Basic Salary (BasicPay) – Rs 31550
- New Dearness Allowance (DA) – 46 percent – Rs 14513/month
- Current Dearness Allowance (DA) – 42% – Rs 13251/month
- On increasing 4 percent dearness allowance (DA) – Rs 1262 (every month) will come more
- Annual Dearness Allowance – Rs 15144 more will be available on 4% increase
- Total annual dearness allowance – will be Rs 1,74,156 (at 46 per cent)
Official announcement will be soon
According to the 7th pay matrix, there will be a bumper increase in the salary of everyone from small grade employees to officer grade. At present, the figure of dearness allowance which will increase in the month of July has been fixed, but it has not been officially announced yet. It can be announced by the government in the month of August or September.
Finance Ministry issues notification
Usually, dearness allowance is approved by the cabinet in September itself. After this the Finance Ministry notifies it and after that it is paid to the central government employees. The difference of this increased dearness allowance, which remains for two months, is given to the central employees in the form of arrears.
