Consideration is being given to the proposal of equal allowance
The issue of difference in special allowance among the Central Armed Forces has been acknowledged by the Home Ministry in the Lok Sabha and a proposal for uniform allowance is being considered after the matter was raised by the Central Reserve Police Force. The CRPF provides security cover to about 150 VIPs, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Gandhi family. The Central Industrial Security Force and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force also provide security to VIPs.
Benefit of allowance not being provided
According to senior officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs, about 80 percent VIPs are provided security, but on the issue of equality, they are not being provided the benefit of many allowances. Due to which it is being considered in detail. A similar proposal has also been sought by the Ministry of Home Affairs on the issue of special allowances from CISF and ITBP.
National Security Guard gets the benefit of 25 to 30% special allowance
According to the CRPF jawans, despite being given security cover according to the nature of the job, they have to be always alert but they do not get the benefit of equal allowance. CRPF personnel say that the Special Security Group, which was assigned the task of protecting the Prime Minister. SPG is provided 40% special allowance for special allowance while National Security Guard is provided around 25 to 30% special allowance.
Here, according to Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai, the proposal to give special security allowance to the VIP security force personnel of CRPF has been kept under consideration. The benefit of Special Security Allowance is being provided to CRPF personnel deputed to SPG, NSG etc. CRPF personnel posted in VIP security unit and various categories of security protected persons are not getting special benefits despite release of grant.
On the question raised on this issue, Minister of State Nityanand Rai replied in writing that the Seventh Central Pay Commission and Special Security Allowance for them could not be considered as the Directorate of VIP Security of CRPF 2020 was also prepared on an ad hoc basis was and has been regularised.
