According to the census, Sikkim has been recorded as the least populous state in the country. Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang announced a new scheme on Monday. Under which the government will make a fixed deposit (FD) of Rs 10,800 in the name of the newborn baby.
Let us tell you that Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang has announced ‘Sikkim Shishu Samriddhi Yojana’ before the assembly elections in the state. While addressing the ‘Jan Bharosa Sammelan’ in Soreng district, he said that fixed deposit i.e. FD Money can be withdrawn after completion of the scheme and when the child turns 18 years of age.
Couples are being given incentives to increase the population
Let us tell you that according to the 2011 census, the population of the Himalayan state is the lowest in the country at 6.10 lakh. The Tamang-led government is taking several steps to encourage couples to have more children to address the concerns of the increasing population.

Under this, the incentives include additional salary hike for government employees having two or three children, one year maternity leave for female government employees and one year maternity leave for non-working mothers. Financial grants are included for.
Approval of Old Pension Scheme for Central Employees
Chief Minister of Sikkim said during the program in Soreng that about 25,000 temporary government employees who have completed four years of service will be submitted a memorandum for regularization at Rangpo on February 29. Earlier this month, the state cabinet had approved the regularization of government employees and the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).
