Flight New Rules: India’s civil aviation regulator is considering a draft proposal under which pilots and crew members will have to avoid using perfume/mouthwash/toothpaste during the breath analyzer test.

According to the report, ‘No crew member shall consume any medication/formulation or use any substance such as mouthwash/tooth gel/perfume or any product containing alcohol which may result in a positive breathalyzer test. Is. Any crew member who is taking such medication should consult the company doctor before flying.

The reason behind the ban?

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has introduced this draft because perfumes usually contain high amounts of alcohol, which can potentially affect the accuracy of the breathalyzer test.

Speaking to news agency ANI, the DGCA chief clarified that this is currently a draft of the Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) which has been put forward for public inputs and suggestions. Let us tell you that airlines in India, including DGCA, maintain strict protocols for conducting breathalyzer tests before any flight operation, these tests are often monitored by cameras.
