As the conflict between Israel and Palestine deepened on Saturday following a surprise attack by Hamas, former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett joined soldiers on the frontlines. The former PM was seen greeting frontline soldiers as he arrived for “reserve duty”.
Bennett served as the 13th Prime Minister of Israel but his term lasted only for a year as the government collapsed under the weight of defections.

Meanwhile, Israel launched an onslaught on Gaza in which so far over 200 people have been killed. These attacks on Palestine came soon after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel was in a state of war.
“We are at war,” he said, adding that “the enemy will pay an unprecedented price.”
The Israeli military has been targeting regions in Gaza in response to the 2,500 rockets that sent air sirens waiting as far north as Tel Aviv. Israeli defence forces are reportedly engaged in gun-battles with Hamas fighters.
The international community has expressed deep concern over the recent Hamas attack on Israel. The United States has strongly condemned the unprovoked rocket attacks on Israeli civilians, with US National Security spokesperson Adrienne Watson stating, “The United States unequivocally condemns the unprovoked attacks by Hamas terrorists against Israeli civilians.”
French President Emmanuel Macron has also voiced his condemnation, expressing full solidarity with the victims and their families. Russia’s deputy foreign minister called for restraint in the conflict.
Meanwhile, Iran has reportedly backed the Hamas’ attack on Israel. “We congratulate the Palestinian fighters,” Iran spokesperson Rahim Safavi was quoted saying by some global news outlets.
“We will stand by the Palestinian fighters until the liberation of Palestine and Jerusalem,” Safavi said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condemned the attacks by Hamas militants saying: “Deeply shocked by the news of the terrorist attacks in Israel. Our thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims and their families. We stand in solidarity with Israel at this difficult hour.”
