What does k mean?
The word ‘K’ or Carat is used to measure the purity of gold. 24K gold is called pure gold because it has 99.9 percent purity. It does not contain traces of other metals. 22K gold contains traces of other metals like copper and zinc and is used to make jewellery.
Gold prices depend on many factors including currency, interest rates, global demand and government policies. When the rupee falls against the US dollar in India, the price of gold increases.
The price of gold also depends on international factors like global economic growth, strength of the dollar against other currencies etc. Another important factor is the demand for precious metals.
