The hallmark tells that the gold jewelry you are buying is pure.

Now the question comes to the mind of the people that many goldsmiths can also print fake hallmarks on jewelry. If you ever doubt that the hallmark printed on the jewelry is fake or wrong, then you can also check the purity of the jewelry through the Hallmark Unique Identification Number (HUID). According to BIS, a unique number is also printed on the jewelry along with the hallmark.

If you look carefully at your gold jewelry, then there will be a number printed on it like AZ4524. Gold purity can be checked through this number. This number contains information about carat and gold purity. However, the price of gold is decided according to 24 carat, 22 carat and 18 carat. 22 carat or less carat gold is used for gold jewellery.
