Notification issued
Dearness Allowance has been increased by the Government of Bengal under the Sixth Pay Commission. Under the Sixth Pay Commission, the dearness allowance of the employees has been increased at the rate of six percent. Dearness allowance will be paid to the employees on basic salary. The notification has been issued by the Finance Department. Pension holders will also get the benefit of dearness allowance in the same proportion. The notification has been issued on Friday along with the guidelines by Manoj Pant, Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department. In which notice has also been sent to all the districts. Information about this has also been made available to the District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police.
Announcement to increase 6% dearness allowance
Earlier, 3% DA was announced by the Government of Bengal in the budget. However, the employees were not satisfied with this dearness allowance increase and were continuously warning of agitation. On Friday, a notification has been issued by the Finance Secretary announcing the increase of 6% dearness allowance under the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission. Although the government believes that this will give some relief to the employees.
All employees of state secretariat, panchayat, government educational institutions, bodies, state government-run and statutory institutions will get the benefit of 6 percent dearness allowance. The notification states that DA will be calculated after taking into account the revised basic pay and non-practicing allowance but will not include any other type of pay.
State government employees say that even after this increase, the DA given by the central government to its employees will be 32 percent less. The same 6% increase includes the 3% increase announced in December 2020, which is to be implemented from January 1, 2021, and the recently announced additional 3% dearness allowance increase.
