A bench of Justice Suresh Kumar Kait and Justice Saurabh Banerjee said that House Rent Allowance (HRA) in paramilitary forces should not be restricted to personnel below officer level (PBOR) but should be available to all, regardless of rank.
Employee HRA Allowance: There is good news for thousands of employees of all ranks of paramilitary forces. The Delhi High Court, while ruling in the interest of paramilitary forces, said that the employees of all ranks should get House Rent Allowance (HRA). The court has directed the Center to take necessary steps to give the benefit of house rent allowance to these employees within six weeks.
In fact, the Delhi High Court has given this order on the petitions of Group A officers with the rank of Assistant Commandant, Deputy Commandant and Second-in-Command in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Border Security Force (BSF). The petitioners had challenged the office orders of the central government, which mandated grant of HRA only to below officer level personnel in the forces for maintaining their families at places other than the place of posting. This decision of the High Court will benefit thousands of employees and the government has been given six weeks to implement it.
