This year too, there will be a 10 percent increase in the salaries of hundreds of employees who are responsible for the cleanliness system of the Municipal Corporation. The new rates will be applicable from April 1, 2024, hence due to the electoral code of conduct, there will be an increase in the salary in June instead of May. Along with this, arrears will also be paid to the employees.

According to the news of Amar Ujala, Shimla Municipal Corporation administration increases the garbage fee rates by 10 percent every year from April to increase the salary of Saheb Society employees. This time too, these rates have been increased from April 1, 2024, but due to the Model Code of Conduct, its benefit will not be available in May. The increased salary along with arrears will be paid in June only after the results of the Lok Sabha elections, which will include the salary of April and May. More than 600 employees, supervisors, drivers and other personnel will benefit from this.

Protest against biometric attendance, can go on strike after June 10

On Monday, Saheb Society Employees Union had called a meeting, in which the use of biometric attendance was opposed and a demand was made from the administration to change this decision.

It was decided that hundreds of employees of Saheb Society, who were handling the cleanliness system, have now decided to boycott the cleaning campaigns run by the Municipal Corporation to clean the hills and drains.

It was decided in the meeting that if personnel are called for campaigns then the corporation should provide them additional amount in return.

Apart from this, the employees also expressed their disappointment over the lack of decision on the 32-point demand letter submitted to the corporation administration and said that the corporation should take immediate decision on these demands, otherwise after June 10, the employees can also decide to go on strike.
