From the new year, teachers, teachers and employees of colleges and universities will get the benefit of the 7th Pay Commission of UGC. With the implementation of the seventh pay scale, the salary of guest and contract teachers, guest faculty and part-time teachers in colleges of Chandigarh and Punjab will also increase. The Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab on Wednesday announced that teachers of colleges and universities would be paid salaries under the Seventh Pay Commission. Higher Education Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hair said that the AAP government has fulfilled the long pending demand of teachers of colleges and universities for the last six years. With this, teachers will get financial benefit of Rs 280 crore from the exchequer. The disbursement of funds or revised salary will be released from the state treasury.

Fines will be imposed for non-compliance of these orders after February 21, International Mother Language Day.
