In fact, in spite of the laid down policy, Railway employees and their unions have recently come to the notice of delay or refusal to accede to the requests of employees to transfer their spouses to their places of posting. Railway Board ordered to settle transfer pending cases
In a letter sent to all zonal officers, the Railway Board said that it is requested that all such pending requests may be examined and disposed off as per the laid down policy. Such requests should not remain pending for long after the digitization process of Human Resource Management System (HRMS). The Central Government believes that both work and family are affected if the working husband and wife are not posted together. The policy took into account various working circumstances such as seniority status of husband and wife, employment situation where one of the spouses may belong to some other central service etc. and suggested transfer options accordingly.
Similar instructions were given last year as well
It is reported that last year on August 20, 2022, the board had issued a similar instruction seeking information related to disposal of transfer requests on the basis of husband and wife. When it was learned that several requests for transfer of land between husband and wife were pending, on September 6 the zones were directed to launch a special drive to settle all cases. But due to non-compliance, the board has again reiterated its directive and asked the zones to bring all new and old pending cases to conclusion.
