During the data analysis done by DoT, it is found that a subscriber has more than 9 mobile connections (SIM card) first of all those numbers will be verified.
The Central Government has issued an order to cut the phone connection of people with more than 9 SIM cards. As per the latest order of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), the authorities will first verify multiple SIMs and in case of non-verification, all numbers except one will be deactivated. Six SIM cards will be re-verified for people living in Jammu and Kashmir and North-East.
As per the new order, customers will be given the option to choose the connection they wish to retain and deactivate the remaining connections. If during the data analysis done by DoT, it is found that an individual subscriber has more than 9 mobile connections (six in case of J&K, Northeast and Assam LSA). First of all those numbers will be checked.
Action will be taken against those who have more than 9 sim cards
This step has been taken to prevent incidents of financial crimes, strange calls, automatic calls and fraudulent activities. DoT has asked telecom operators to remove all flagged mobile connections from the database which are not in use as per the rules.
As per the rule, “The outgoing (including data services) features of the flagged mobile connection shall be suspended within 30 days and the incoming service shall be suspended within 45 days. In this case, the flagged number will be closed within 60 days, the counting of which has started from 7th December.

The order said, “In case of a subscriber who is on international roaming or is physically disabled or hospitalised, an additional 30 days shall be provided to get his number verified. However, if any law enforcement agencies or financial If the number is marked by the institution or identified as a fraud caller and the person does not turn up for verification, his outgoing facilities will be suspended within 5 days. His SIM card within 10 days to 15 days will be completely disconnected.
