Over 11 lakh PAN cards have been deactivated by Government. Is yours still valid?

It is important to check if your PAN is still active or not as the deadline to link Aadhaar with PAN no. ends on August 31 2017.




Recently, over 11 lakh PAN cards have been termed as fake and duplicate by The Income Tax Department. The individuals under the radar are those having PAN cards which are issued under false documents and those with multiple PAN cards. The government will be helped by this move, as it will prevent theft and identify the purchase of benami properties.

The deadline of linking Aadhar number with PAN card is 31st August. Hence it becomes important to check if your PAN is still active or not.

Following are the simple steps which needs to be followed to check whether you PAN is valid:

> Log in to the e-filing website.

> Under Services on the left side of the page, Click on ‘Know Your PAN‘

> After clicking, you will be directed to a page where in you have to fill your details.





> After you have filled in the details, you will receive a one-time password (OTP) on your registered mobile number for verification.

> After you have keyed in the OTP, click on ‘Validate‘

> If your PAN is still valid, it will show that it is ‘Active‘

> If there are multiple PAN numbers with same details, a message will pop-up saying that, ‘There are multiple records for this query. Please provide additional information’ and it will ask you to fill in the additional details. You will then be directed to a new page which will tell you the validity of your PAN.

  12. I wanted to check whether my PAN is valid or not. I and my wife are now in USA on a tour and would return to India in November 2017. When I tried to chech my PAN by visiting the website, I find a code has been sent to my registered cell number. But my cell number is under safe custody and I cannot receive the code. Would the income tax authorities permit me to wait and chech the PAN in November 2017? My PAN number is xxxx

    I shall be grateful for a confirmatory reply from the Income tax department.

    When I try to validate my PAN, it says “NO RECORD FOUND FOR THE PROVIDED DETAILS”?. I have linked Aadhar with PAN.
    PAN CARD No.AALPN2519C is obtained from Commissioner of I.T. Jaipur. My permanent address is given of Kerala. What should I do? Please guide.

  17. Hi, I am from Karnataka and my PAN card has my name with initials (no surname; in passport and Aadhar card, name written in full). Through this search option on incometax site., I could not find any details pertaining to my PAN card. Kindly let me know, like others who are facing similar problem.

  18. Is it true or rumours? Anyway, does this apply to people who don’t have any source of income or even if they have income via investment like dividends, interests, etc etc. And also housewives for example. There’s no need for them to file for IT Returns? So will their PAN card be deactivated?

  32. Sir, I have only one PAN card for the last 15 years. I have been regularly filing my Income tax returns with the same PAN card for last 15 years, including this year. I have successfully linked my Aadhar card and PAN card. Now when I checked my PAN status, the website says,” No records available for the given details.” Please help

  36. My PAN is already linked with AADHAR number. Also filed tax return for AY 2017-18 in time.
    I have registered myself long back on Efiling website and able to log in and confirmed that my Aadhar is linked to PAN.
    However while checking validity of my PAN card through provided process I am getting
    No records found.
    Obviously there is some issue in your software . Please correct it.

  45. Can IT dept not provide a very short,simple & effective verification format so that even a person with average acumen,sr citizens etc can do the verification!!!

  50. Kindly be mindful, your website picture is disclosing the picture, PAN CARD No, Name and all details ONLINE, with out that persons consent. You are violating any persons personal information which canturn to sue you. Kindly be noted the point. In India, media have a habit of disclosing the car numbers, manufacturer brand, any accidents, with out notifying the person. I am not sure about the laws as no one has given youthe right to disclose the info?

  66. The present BJP Government don’t have enough work to do and their Babus are just twiddling their fingers. The same applies to the Banks. Under the UPA they wanted to create a central base where one application becomes accessible to all – Government agencies, Banks, Municipalities and Utilities but BJP just doesn’t want to take up the project and complete it. Why are we Indians becoming as stupid like the Americans? In India there is no commonsense to simplify but all organizations mentioned above are geniuses in making everything complicated. Is it an activity to extract bribes out of the frustration created by these fools and make all citizens suffer and run into situations of blood pressure. INDIA IS A VERY SICK COUNTRY AND PARTICULARLY BY THE PRESENT GOVERNMENT.
