Pension fund regulator PFRDA has given good news to those investing money in NPS. Now NPS investors can make de-remit payment through UPI QR code. This will give people another option to deposit money in NPS and the payment process will become simpler. With this, the facility of same-day investment will also be available.
Now investors will start getting the facility of same-day investment, periodic auto debit and one-time or regular contribution. Let us know what these three mean and what is de remit?
Same day investment
means that the investment will start on the same day you invest the money. If you invest at 9.30 in the morning, your investment will start on the same day and this will increase your chances of getting better returns.
Periodic Auto Debit
You can start auto debit through this facility on monthly, quarterly or half yearly basis. With this, you will not have to remember to make repeated payments every month or six months. Payment will be deducted automatically.
One Time or Regular
Investor can choose the option of regular or one time payment as per his need and financial goals.
What is de-remit?
This is an electronic system by which the amount from your bank account goes directly to your NPS trustee’s account. As soon as you invest in NPS, you start getting net asset value. To use this facility, the investor must have a de-remit account with Trustee Bank. This account can be used only for NPS contribution.
What is NPS?
National Pension Scheme was started in 2003. This includes both government and non-government employees. Initially it was only for government employees, which was changed in 2009 to private employees also. Any employee aged 18-60 years can invest in this. In this, tax benefit of up to Rs 1.5 lakh is available. However, there is a deduction from the salary for this. The amount received after retirement is taxable.
