Hot lava started coming out from there. Such a surprising sight has been seen for the first time. When the volcanic eruption is not happening on the top of a mountain, but on the ground. As if the apocalypse has come.
More than 800 earthquakes occurred 24 hours before the volcanic eruption. The explosion occurred north of Hegafell in the city of Grindavik. This crack has formed there. It is just a few kilometers away from the town. However, the cracks have reached the city. Inside which lava is seen flowing. This area is only 40 kilometers away from Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland.
The Meteorological Department of Iceland has said that no traffic has been stopped due to the volcanic eruption. The rift is continuously increasing. Yellow and orange colored lava is continuously coming out from there. Besides, earthquake tremors are also being felt continuously. The crack is continuously moving towards the main town of Grindavik. But it is still some distance away.
Lava is continuously coming out from this crack at the rate of 3530 to 7060 cubic feet per second. The administration has forbidden people from even going near this area. Grindavik’s roads started sinking in the beginning of November. People have left the area but they are worried about their property.
Scientists had then expressed apprehension that a major volcanic eruption was about to take place here. Most fishermen live in Grindavik. Most of the people’s business is related to fish. Because hot magma was flowing under the ground of the entire town. Lava was flowing for a length of 10 km under the ground of Grindavik. It was about 800 meters below the surface.
Due to the earthquakes caused by this lava flow, Iceland’s main tourist destination Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa was closed. The Reykjanes area is south-west of the capital Reykjavik.
