The weather agency has issued an orange alert for heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura.

In its forecast, the IMD said heavy rains will continue in parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan till August 12, while moderate rains are expected in Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh on August 10.

The weather agency said Himachal Pradesh will continue to receive heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, accompanied by lightning and thundershowers, till Saturday.
