IMD Alert: The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain warning for today in Tamil Nadu, in view of which schools and colleges in Nagapattinam and Tiruvarur districts will remain closed today i.e. on November 1. Along with this, schools in Mayiladuthurai district will also remain closed today. During the next 24 hours, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain and snow in Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir and isolated rain and snow is expected in Himachal Pradesh.
Due to western disturbances, there is a possibility of snowfall and rain in the hilly states. According to the Meteorological Department, it will start raining in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh from November. At the same time, there is a possibility of light rain somewhere in the southern states. Heavy rain may occur in Tamil Nadu today.

Temperature will decrease, cold will increase in these states
According to the Meteorological Department, dry winds are blowing from north and west to central India. These winds will pass through snowy areas after snowfall on the mountains and cold will increase in most parts of North India. According to MID, from November 6-7, due to two western disturbances in the country, chill will increase with cold from north to central India.
IMD has forecast that the first Western Disturbance will knock in Kashmir on Monday. After which there is a possibility of rain with snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal and Uttarakhand from November. At the same time, the second western disturbance will come on November 3. Due to this, there may be heavy snowfall from Kashmir to Himachal and Uttarakhand from November 5 to 6.
From 8-9 November, there will be a drop in temperature in many states of the country including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana, Odisha.
Rain likely in southern states
Many parts of the country including southern states, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Puducherry, Karaikal are receiving rain due to the north-east monsoon. MID has forecast rain for today at many places including Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Andaman, Nicobar, Yanam, Kerala and Mahe. With this, there is a possibility of rain in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland today.
