Dense to very dense fog observed at many places in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi during the last 24 hours. Commuters in Punjab faced trouble as visibility dropped to zero and 50 meters in Amritsar, Pathankot, Ludhiana, Patiala, Adampur, Halwara and Bathinda. In view of the inclement weather conditions, the government has extended the winter vacation in government schools.
IMD Alert, Today Weather Update: Changes are being seen in the weather of the country every moment. Due to the continuous falling temperature, on one side where the alert of cold wave has been issued. On the other hand , the weather is full of fog in North India . People have been advised to be cautious. Rainfall warning has been issued in Madhya Pradesh while the effect of drizzle will continue in southern states including Kerala . The new system is likely to be activated in 2 days. The result of cold winds has been issued in many districts of Uttar Pradesh Bihar . While issuing orange alert of fog in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Haryana Punjab including Delhi, a warning has been issued regarding the city. The snowfall will continue on the mountains.
Just after 24 hours, the effect of dense fog has been expressed in some parts of Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh, Delhi . Along with this , conditions of severe fog can be seen in some parts of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar including Madhya Pradesh, Delhi due to cold day.
Cold wave due to snowfall on the mountains
Due to snowfall on the mountains in North India, the cold wave has increased. Punjab including Delhi NCR will be visible to Haryana and the entire plains . The process of drop in temperature continued in Delhi on Tuesday as well. Due to which the temperature has dropped to 16 degree Celsius while the minimum temperature has reached 7 degree Celsius. Orange alert of cold wave has been issued in Delhi. With the increase of severe cold, due to icy wind, the condition of cold wave will be terrible till the end of the week. There is a possibility of dense fog for 2 days. An alert has been issued by the Meteorological Department regarding dense fog and icy winds for 4 days.
Seasonal alert issued in these areas
- Thunderstorm very likely over Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
- Thunderstorm very likely at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh,
- Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
- Snowfall is likely at isolated places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.
- Dense to very dense fog is possible at isolated places over North India and Central India,
- East India and Northeast India early morning.
- Cold wave to severe cold wave conditions are expected in parts of Punjab, North
- Rajasthan and isolated parts of Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi.
- Cold wave conditions are likely to prevail over isolated parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
Cold wave in Punjab, Haryana
With the increase of severe cold in Punjab Haryana on Wednesday, the minimum temperature is being reported as normal. The fog is thick. Visibility has reduced to 50 metres. Orange alert of cold wave has been issued in both these states. Also issued a warning. Dense fog will prevail in both the states for 3 days. In the last 24 hours, cold wave to severe cold wave conditions have been observed at many places in isolated pockets of Punjab and Delhi, Punjab and Haryana. District-level alerts have been issued for today in Punjab’s Gurdaspur, Ferozepur, Ludhiana, Barnala, Patiala, Mansa, Kapurthala, Faridkot and Muktara and Sirsa, Fatehgarh Sahib, Jind, Kurukshetra, Hisar, Ambala, Rewari for today.
Red alert issued in 12 districts for Gujarat Rajasthan
Red alert has been issued in 12 districts for Gujarat and Rajasthan. A warning has been issued. Along with Hanumangarh, Sikar, Churu, Mount Abu , cold wave has also been released in Jaipur and other districts. An alert has been issued for this. Dense fog will remain till 11:00 am. Visibility will be seen as negligible. Orange alert of Sheetlahar was issued in Dholpur, Karauli, Sikar, Churu, Hanumangarh, Sriganganagar , while Yellow alert was issued in 12 districts including Jaipur, Ajmer, Bikaner .
Snow Warning in the Mountains
According to the order issued by the Meteorological Department, western disturbances are increasing rapidly in Jammu-Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Due to which snowfall will continue on the mountains. The effect will be visible on the plains. Traffic service is being disrupted due to the winds. In Uttarakhand , some snowfall in the higher peaks of the mountains will lead to icy wind with fog in the plains. The temperature has dropped by 2-3 degrees below normal. It will be sunny in most parts. Although the visibility in sunlight will be very low.
Snow alert issued
Heavy snowfall alert has been issued near six in Himachal Uttarakhand, western Jammu Kashmir, Leh Ladakh etc. There is a possibility of snowfall in Gilgit Baltistan Muzaffarabad Ladakh . Warning of cold wave in Bilaspur Hamirpur Una and dense fog has been issued in 2 districts. A red alert has been issued for heavy rain with snowfall in Himachal on January 8 and in Uttarakhand on January 7. Gangotri Dham and Harsil in Uttarkashi received snowfall while many districts including Yamunotri and Janaki Chatti will remain cloudy today.
Snowfall rain warning in eastern state
States like Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh etc. will see a drop in temperature. Along with this, forecast of snowfall and rain has been issued. There is a possibility of heavy rain in many areas, while an orange alert has been issued for cold wave and fog.
Visibility reached zero
There is bone-chilling cold in many areas including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand . Visibility has reduced to zero. Normal life and traffic are being affected. Many trains are getting late. Apart from this, many flights have also been canceled.
Yellow alert for rain in southern state
Light to moderate rains may occur over Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Nicobar Islands . Apart from this, rain warnings have also been issued in Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh .
Dense fog will cover these areas
Dense fog will remain in Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Assam, Tripura . Apart from this, in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh today, issuing a warning of cold wave, a yellow alert has been issued for dense fog.
Orange alert in these areas
The first orange alert of fog has been issued in Rajasthan. The fog will remain till January 8. The temperature in Fatehpur has reached minus degree Celsius while the visibility is reduced to 25 metres. Mercury has also been recorded in minus in Shekhawati and Churu. Snow dew has started freezing on the crops in the fields.
Cold day warning in these
Cold day warning has been issued in Haryana . The temperature is continuously falling in Haryana due to cold wave. Hisar recorded a maximum temperature of 10 degree Celsius. Apart from this, red alert has been issued in 13 districts. Warning has also been issued in other states including some areas of Punjab Delhi .
