Rain is forecast for five days in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andaman-Nicobar, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura, Sikkim and West Bengal.

Since Diwali, cold has started increasing in states like Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, while the southern states, including Kerala and Tamil Nadu, are continuing with rain. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heavy rains in several southern states including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala from Saturday 29 October to 1 November today due to the impact of the cyclone. However, the weather will remain dry over the rest of the country during the next five days. On 29-31 October, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal may receive heavy rain along with thunderstorms and thunderstorms along the Kerala-Andhra Pradesh coasts on 30th and 31st October. Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh on 31st October. It may rain as well as snow

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a possibility of snowfall in the hilly areas like Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir for the next 7 days. Along with this, there will be a drop in the temperature in North India. Heavy rains may also occur in North-Eastern states and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Light to heavy rain is likely over Kerala and Mahe on 30th and 31st October, while coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam are likely to see rain on 31st October. With light rain over Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Tamil Nadu coasts in the next 24 hours. Moderate rain may occur at one or two places.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is no forecast of rain in the states of North India including UP-Bihar and Delhi, but due to the continuous fall in the temperature, the cold has started increasing, while the states of South India are expected to rain for the next four days. At the same time, there is a drop in temperature due to snowfall in hilly states like Jammu and Kashmir to Himachal. Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andaman-Nicobar, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram Rain is forecast for five days in Tripura, Sikkim and West Bengal.

According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), rain is forecast in Andhra Pradesh, Andaman-Nicobar, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Yanam and Kerala for four days from today. On the other hand, it will rain in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland today. Like Delhi, the weather will remain dry in most states including MP, Chhattisgarh, UP, Jharkhand, Bihar. In the coming days, there is a possibility of increasing cold in UP. The temperature is seen fluctuating due to the north-westerly wind.

What does the Meteorological Department say

  • Northeasterly winds are expected in the lower troposphere level over the Bay of Bengal and South Peninsular India, due to which the rains are likely to start again in the southern states from October 29.
  • A Cyclonic Circulation is persisting over West Central and adjoining South-West Bay of Bengal.
  • A Low-Pressure Line is persisting over low levels of southwest Bay of Bengal across South Interior Karnataka to Tamil Nadu.
