IMD ALERT / WEATHER UPDATE : Moderate to heavy rain is expected to continue across the country for the next one week. On August 14-15, Delhi-NCR will be cloudy and light rain or drizzle is expected. There is also a possibility of rain with lightning somewhere on Monday and Tuesday. The period of moderate to heavy rain with thunderstorms in western and eastern UP is expected to continue till August 19. In Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh till 17th there are indications of light to moderate rains and on 17th due to the activation of the new system, the phase of Jhajjam rains will start.
According to the IMD, orange and yellow alerts have been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in Uttarakhand and Himachal. Apart from this, heavy to very heavy rains are also expected in parts of Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya. Rain has been predicted, while Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are expected to receive heavy rain for the next two days. Heavy rains in these districts till August 16
According to the IMD department, scattered to heavy rainfall is likely to continue over Northeast India during the next four days. Light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls very likely over Odisha on 15th & 16th August and over Jharkhand on 16th August and over Andaman & Nicobar Islands during 14-16th. Effect of Western Disturbance and cyclonic circulation
According to IMD, at present the Monsoon Trough is lying north of normal position, which is likely to reach north or foothills of Himalayas in 4-5 days. While a Cyclonic Circulation is present over East Bangladesh and its neighborhood, due to which a trough has been formed in the tropospheric level, the same Western Disturbance is active in the form of a trough in the middle tropospheric westerly winds, whose Dhuri is 5.8 km above sea level and weather is changing.
