Heavy rains are going to continue to wreak havoc in South India with an increase of three to four per cent. Along with this, warnings of landslides and heavy rains have been issued in eastern India as well.

There will be some respite from snowfall in the hilly areas, while due to the active Western Disturbance, rain and snowfall will be seen once again in North India from May 8. Meanwhile, a warning has also been issued for the formation of a “cyclone opportunity” in the Bay of Bengal. At present three weather systems are active across the country. Due to which there are chances of drastic changes in the weather.

Effect of Cyclone Moka

Coming to Cyclone Moka, a cyclonic system will be seen in the Bay of Bengal as predicted earlier this week. A warning has been issued to take its shape in 24 hours. The season is effectively set to begin with the pre-monsoon cyclone of 2023. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, a cyclonic circulation has formed over Southeast Bay of Bengal this morning.

A warning has been issued for the formation of a low pressure area in the same area around 8:00 am on Monday. May turn into a depression on May 9. The cyclonic storm will show its effect as soon as it turns into a depression. Warning has been issued from Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, West Bengal and Jharkhand. Heavy rain between May 8 and 11

Heavy rain has been predicted in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Rayalseema including Andhra, Karnataka, Kerala. Along with this, an alert has also been issued for thunderstorms.

Not only this, wind can blow at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour in these areas. The wind speed can reach 60 to 80 km on Sunday. At the same time, a forecast of wind speed up to 80 kmph has been issued in the area adjacent to the southeast central Bay of Bengal, while wind speed up to 70 kmph is expected in the central region of Odisha.

Weather system

  • Talking about the weather system, at present the Western Disturbance is forming as a cyclonic circulation over Afghanistan and adjoining region.
    Apart from this, another cyclonic circulation has formed over South West Bay of Bengal near Tamil Nadu.

  • During Anuj, heavy rains can be seen in many areas of South and Tamil Nadu.
  • Apart from this, a warning of light and moderate rain has been issued in the western Himalayas including Sikkim, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh.
  • Rain has also been forecast in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur.
  • Moderate rain warning has also been issued in Punjab, Haryana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, South Chhattisgarh and Madhya Maharashtra.
  • A forecast of dusty storm has been expressed in Punjab including Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi.
  • Moderate rain has also been predicted in Andaman and Nicobar, southeast part of Madhya Pradesh including Raja Seema, Andhra Karnataka, Telangana.

Temperature will increase in these states

Rain forecast in regions

Scattered to widespread rain may occur over the western Himalayan region due to the cyclonic circulation over Iran and neighboring Afghanistan. A thunderstorm warning has also been issued. Snowfall has also been predicted in many areas of Leh Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir including Uttarakhand-Himachal. There is a possibility of hailstorm in Uttarakhand between May 10 and 12. Apart from this, warnings of thunderstorm and hailstorm have also been issued in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.

A free-flowing circulation is forming southwest of the Bay of Bengal. Due to which strong wind accompanied by thunder and lightning has been forecast for the next 5 days. Heavy rain warning has also been issued in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe, Rayalaseema, Interior Madhya Pradesh, Interior Maharashtra and Interior Kerala, Karnataka. Rain has been predicted in the areas till May 12.
