Let us tell you that EPFO has linked all the employees earning more than 15,000 salary to its pension scheme, under which 12 percent of the basic salary of an employee is deducted every month as PF. The employer company also gives the same 12 percent share as PF to the employee and this entire amount is deposited in the pension account of EPFO every month, which is received as pension to the employee concerned at the time of retirement.
18.23 lakh subscribers added in July
EPFO has added 18.23 lakh new subscribers in July this year, an increase of 24.48 per cent over the corresponding month last year. Out of the total new members added in July, about 10.58 lakh members have come under the social security purview of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization for the first time. The increase in the number of new members is continuing from April, 2022. About 57.69 percent of the total 10.58 lakh new members are in the age group of 18 to 25 years. About 4.07 lakh members were excluded from the purview of EPFO while 11.72 lakh joined the EPFO again after being excluded.
