If a senior citizen wants to book a lower berth during ticket booking, then he/she will have to book the ticket in the manner mentioned here.

Indian Railways offers many facilities for the passengers, so that the passengers do not face any kind of problems during the journey. Even before the start of the festive season, many special trains have been run by Indian Railways, in which confirmed tickets can be booked. However, if a senior citizen wants to book a lower berth during ticket booking (Senior Citizen Confirmed Train Ticket), then he/she will have to book the ticket in the manner mentioned here.

Giving information on Twitter , the Railways said that the lower berth or senior citizen quota berth is the lower berth earmarked only for men of 60 years and above and women of 45 years and above. When there are one or two senior citizens, the lower berth will be given, but when there are two senior citizens and one senior citizen and one youth, the ticket allotment system will not consider it.

In such a situation, if you also want to travel by railways and book a confirmed ticket for the lower berth, then you will have to book the tickets in the manner prescribed by IRCTC. If your request is found valid for lower berth, then you will be given a lower berth by the railways. However, the booking of tickets should be done as per the proper norms.

Significantly, 83 trains have been started by Indian Railways on different routes for Diwali, Chhath and Dussehra. It has trains going from Gorakhpur, Bihar to Madhya Pradesh and other places. Many of these trains are being run for one day in a week and some for three days during the week. Most of these trains have been started from Mumbai .
