Indian Railway: Traveling by Indian Railways is going to be even easier now. Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has equipped 588 booking counters in its five divisions with QR code machines under the Digital India initiative.

Railway officials said on Monday that the facility of QR code ticketing has been started at 588 booking counters in northeastern states as well as seven districts of West Bengal and five districts of North Bihar. Of these digital booking counters, the highest number of 167 booking counters have been set up in Katihar, 96 in Alipurdwar, 87 in Rangia, 175 in Lumding and 63 in Tinsukia.

According to Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Northeast Frontier Railway, booking counters equipped with QR codes have been installed in five divisions. These divisions are Katihar, Rangia, Alipurdurwar, Lumding and Tinsukia. This move by the railways ensures that passengers can avail ticketing facility through digital payment without any interruption at almost all major stations within the NFR network.

At which railway stations will QR code ticketing be available?

The maximum number of digital booking counters, 167, have been set up in Katihar division. Whereas, 96 counters have been set up in Alipurdurwar, 87 in Rangia, 175 in Lumding and 63 in Tinsukia division.

The official said that the introduction of QR code machines at booking counters will make it easier for passengers to get tickets during the festival rush. Passengers can now avoid long queues for cash transactions.

More than 7600 special trains during the festive season

Railway Board Director Dilip Kumar has said that on the occasion of Chhath and Diwali, we had earlier decided to run more than six and a half thousand special trains. But now its number has been increased to more than 7,600. Indian Railways is running more than 7,700 special trains in the months of October and November. The monitoring of all these special trains is being done at the Railway Board, Zonal Railway and station level.
