Indian Railway: If you travel by train then there is great news for you. Because Indian Railways has reduced the fare of AC 3-tier economy class ticket and made it cheaper in view of the problems of the passengers. Now passengers will be able to enjoy AC 3-tier economy class by spending less money. This happened because the Indian Railways has restored the pre-fare for this class. Earlier in November last year, it had merged the fare with the price of AC 3-tier ticket.
Indian Railways will continue to offer linen to railway passengers even after this restoration. A Railways order has withdrawn an earlier circular in which the AC 3-tier economy class ticket fare was made at par with the AC 3-tier ticket fare. According to the Railways, passengers who have booked tickets online and over the counter will be given a refund of the extra amount for pre-booked tickets.
While introducing 3E as a class in September 2021, Railways had announced that the fare in these newly introduced coaches will be 6-8 per cent less than the normal AC 3 coaches. It introduced the category of travel as “The best and cheapest AC travel service in the world”. Prior to the November 2022 order, passengers could book AC 3 economy tickets under a separate category of 3E in special trains where the Railways offered such seats.
60-70 rupees extra had to be paid
Railway officials say that currently there are 463 AC 3 economy coaches as compared to 11,277 normal AC 3 coaches. AC 3 economy coaches have better facilities for passengers as compared to normal AC 3 coaches. With the merger of AC 3-tier economy, passengers had to pay an extra Rs 60-70. While the normal AC 3-tier coach has 72 berths, the AC 3-tier economy has 80 berths.
